Big Ken Sproles
Sales Manager

I truly enjoy getting to know people and helping customers wade through the production process. Each person I talk to has a little bit different situation, and comes from a different level of advertising experience. It’s rewarding, when at the end of the day, I know I’ve helped someone. And most of the time I learn something from them too. I’m been blessed to have the kind of job that allows me so much time with people. I am never quite sure what is going to happen on any given day and that’s what I like.

When I’m not at work, I’m at work. I’m a salesman; I’m always at work. Seriously, I love my family and my church, and I appreciate the time I spend with both.

To contact me, please call 1-866-325-6823 or email me.

Adam Shafer
Graphic Designer and Interactive Specialist

I spend my day designing graphics for commercials, updating Dakota Video’s website and creating new sales tools to demonstrate our various productions. I try to look at each situation from the customer’s perspective, so I appreciate the creative freedom to produce a unique look and user-friendly interface to help customers better understand everything Dakota Video has to offer. Whether on the web, a CD-ROM, or DVD, I’m behind the scenes, bringing Dakota Video to customers everywhere.

When not working, I enjoy being outdoors, mountain biking, camping, snowboarding, and working in my yard.

Amy Prouty
Production Editor

When I tell people I’m a video editor, they usually give me a blank stare or a polite smile and a nod. What is video editing? I sit in front a computer and push buttons and click my mouse until out comes a finished video. The production could be a 30 second commercial, a 10-minute promotional video, or a 30-minute infomercial. I choose video shots, decide on the order of shots, add narrator segments and sound effects and music, adjust color, manipulate the picture to look the very best, trim some time here, add some time there; it’s a very intuitive process and I know it’s done when I think it “looks right”.

When I’m not editing, I travel the world. Most recently, I toured Australia and New Zealand. I went hot air ballooning, bungee jumping and speed boating. I visited the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House and the breathtaking scenery in New Zealand. I even ate kangaroo and crocodile.

Production Editor

I'm the one at family get-togethers that no one can quite grasp what I do for a living. I no longer tell people that I'm a video editor and now just tell people that I make radio and TV commercials. I've been making ads now since 1988 and the thing I love the most about the gig is that it never gets boring. Sometimes chaotic, but never boring! I often tell people that it's the best job in the world because I get paid to play!

When I'm not here, I enjoy the solitude one can find here in South
Dakota. I like to fish or even just drive around in the country and try to see things I've never seen before. I also look forward to taking my two daughters on "adventures" for a few hours during the weekends. Trips to the zoo, the pool, museums or their favorite - toy stores!

Randi Hamer
Production Editor

I'm fresh to the Dakota herd, but not to the editing field. I spent the last eight years in television, working on both commercial production and live broadcasting. What a world of difference between the two!  I enjoyed the urgency of breaking news, but in South Dakota, breaking news only comes along once every other year.   So now I get my thrills from making fun and exciting commercials for you. We're always exploring the latest technology to add new flavor to our videos. I enjoy editing so much I spend a lot of my free time making fun videos for friends and family.

Outside of work, I'm a mother and a wife, and love showing off pictures of my beautiful little girl. We enjoy going on walks and visiting the duck pond. When she's wiped out from all the walking, I try to sneak in some meditation and pointless internet time.

Corbet Miner
Graphic Artist and Animator

I help design the visual look of a spot by creating logos, price points, and other "graphics" for the editors to utilize. My animating responsibilities are to create both 2d (cartoony, like Looney Toons) and 3d (computery, like Toy Story and Shrek) animations. This takes a lot of time, but is one of the things I really look forward to doing.

When not animating, drawing or rendering at work I am busy with raising my two sons, Solomon & Phoenix; loving my wife Audrey and working hard at various artistic and creative endeavors, such as: writing, drawing, photography and sculpture. To keep (get) fit I practice Tai Chi Chuan and Foil Fencing.

Jeff Reynolds
Writer and Producer

Any given day I am immersed in the details of “producing”… which can range from talking with clients about pending projects, to writing scripts, to overseeing the details that ultimately lead to a finished production; details like hiring on-camera talent and getting scenes shot for TV commercials and videos.

There is plenty I love about what I do here at Dakota and what probably comes to mind most often is that it never seems like “work.” I honestly have a blast!

In my past I have lived/worked in a small-town funeral home, played drums in a dance band, and tossed pizzas in front of a 550-degree oven. These days, when I’m not cooking up ideas at Dakota I turn my attention toward my three kids, my 110 lb. black lab named Boone, and my wife Heidi – and not necessarily in that order. Family life is a priority and we try to maximize our moments together by playing around the house or embarking on kid-size adventures around our region.

Curt Friesen
President and General Manager

I feel the most important job I have is to create an environment for our staff to excel. I supply the tools, high expectations and the opportunity to continue to learn. Our staff routinely amazes me with their ability to create quality productions at an affordable rate for our customers. And when our staff is happy and proud and enthused, our customers get the very best, and they come back again and again.

Outside of the office, I love being with my wife Julie and our son. As a family, we’re active in our church, the South Dakota Symphony and Children’s Home Society. We love to travel, and especially enjoy The Black Hills.
